General Dental
Extractions
Our Dentists are qualified at removing teeth painlessly under adequate local anaesthesia. We also offer nitrous inhalation for nervous or anxious patients to help you during the removal of your tooth.
What you need to know
Teeth removal, known as extractions, may be required for a myriad of reasons including:
- Orthodontic requirements
- Advanced gum disease
- Advanced tooth decay
- Cracked teeth / fractured teeth
- Dental trauma
- Impacted teeth
- Wisdom teeth
When do you require an extraction?
Removal of teeth can be straight forward and simple, and other times require surgical intervention. Discussion is held during your consultation with the dentist before the procedure to plan your tooth removal.
Sometimes teeth have complicated anatomy such as curved roots, or they may be under the gum still, such as with wisdom teeth. For these more involved procedures, we have an in house dental surgeon to whom our patients are appointed to.
What is the procedure?
Dr. David Taub is our dental surgeon who visits our surgery once a month to remove wisdom teeth under intravenous sedation (IV sedation) with the presence of an Anaesthetist. Patients who prefer to have all their wisdom teeth removed under IV sedation may do so through booking an appointment with Dr. Taub.
Patients present with a family member/friend who can drive them safely back home after the surgery. It is an in-house procedure, which does not require any further out of pocket expenses such as hospital stay.
