According to FDI, the standard of care recommends our dentists to recall all of their patients every 6 months for their routine check up and clean, alongside with digital radiographs where required, in order to provide dental clearance from gum disease and dental cavities.
Gum Disease
Gum disease is characterised into two broad categories, Gingivitis and Periodontitis.
Gingivits
Gingivits, or inflammation of the gums, is a reversible form of gum disease whereby a combined general clean and good oral hygiene at home, will reverse the situation of the gums.
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is an advanced form of gum disease. With this form of gum disease, the bone levels that hold your tooth stable is affected, causing eventual tooth / teeth loss. This form of gum disease is dangerous and must be treated differently with treatment modalities such as deep cleaning of the teeth.
